예레미야 (Jeremiah) 35 : 6 ~ 11
6 그러나 그들은 이렇게 대답하였다. “우리는 포도주를 마시지 않습니다. 우리의 조상 레갑의 아들 요나답께서 우리에게 분부하셨습니다. ‘너희는 포도주를 마시지 말아라. 너희뿐만 아니라 너희 자손도 절대로 마셔서는 안 된다.
But they replied, “We do not drink wine, because our forefather Jehonadab son of Rekab gave us this command: ‘Neither you nor your descendants must ever drink wine.
7 너희는 집도 짓지 말고, 곡식의 씨도 뿌리지 말고, 포도나무도 심지 말고, 포도원도 소유하지 말아라.
너희는 언제까지나 장막에서만 살아라. 그래야 너희가 나그네로 사는 그 땅에서 오래오래 살 것이다.’
Also you must never build houses, sow seed or plant vineyards; you must never have any of these things, but must always live in tents. Then you will live a long time in the land where you are
nomads.’
8 그래서 우리는 우리의 조상 레갑의 아들 요나답께서 우리에게 명령하신 모든 말씀에 순종하여, 우리와 우리 아내와 우리 아들과 딸이 일평생 포도주를 마시지 않았습니다.
We have obeyed everything our forefather Jehonadab son of Rekab commanded us. Neither we nor our wives nor our sons and daughters have ever drunk wine
9 우리는 거처할 집도 짓지 않고, 포도원이나 농토나 곡식의 씨도 소유하지 않았습니다.
or built houses to live in or had vineyards, fields or crops.
10 우리는 오직 우리의 조상 요나답께서 우리에게 명령하신 모든 말씀에 순종하여, 그대로 실천하면서, 장막에서 살았습니다.
We have lived in tents and have fully obeyed everything our forefather Jehonadab commanded us.
11 그런데 바빌로니아 왕 느부갓네살이 이 나라에 쳐들어왔을 때에, 우리는 바빌로니아 군대와 시리아 군대를 피하여
예루살렘으로 들어가야 하겠다고 결정하였습니다. 그래서 우리가 지금 예루살렘에 살고 있는 것입니다.”
But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded this land, we said, ‘Come, we must go to Jerusalem to escape the Babylonian and Aramean armies.’ So we have remained in Jerusalem.”
